Intellectual Property Department (IPD), Ministry of Commerce is responsible for implementation of the various IP legislations in Myanmar.
The IPD will administer registration of trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and copyrights and maintenance of the Intellectual Property Registries. This will be accomplished by establishment of processes and procedures, and making use of IP Office Business Systems supported by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
For the smooth transition of First-to-Use system to First-to-File system, the Ministry of Commerce issued Order No. (63/2020) on August 28, 2020 announcing that the IPD will start accepting electronic submission of applications to re-register old marks from October 1, 2020.
The IP Department Online Filing system facilitates electronic submission of the re-registration applications. Registration is required to use the system.
